My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Current Rating on Goodreads: 4.26 of 5 stars
Pages: 392 pages
Synopsis (via Goodreads):

One kiss could be the last

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Took me a while to write this up :/ Oppss *guilty look*

When I read Bitter Sweet Love, the warden/demon fight seemed so clear cut. Wardens are good, demons are evil. But I guess that's because we were seeing through the eyes of a pure warden. Now, we really get to see the shades of grey.
I think that the wardens and demons are opposite, but neither are 'good' or 'bad' as such.
Like Roth so wisely says XD
“People with the purest souls are capable of the greatest evils. No one is perfect, no matter what they are or what side they fight for.”
#quotelove

Layla is half demon, half warden, which is.....totally nuts because wardens and demons hunt and kill each other. In other words, they're mortal enemies. XD She's grown up living with wardens, and yet she's only been accepted and remotely liked by, like, four of them. Saad, I know >.<
At 17 and in love with her best friend aka Zayne the hot warden....errrr.......*cough* I'd say boy but he's 21, so yeaaahhh......hot warden man more like o.O *cough*, her relatively steady life (if you can even call her life steady) turns into a roller coaster ride (in more ways then one) with the appearance of a hell-hot demon by the name of Roth *waggles eyebrows* Question is, which hotness personified will she pick, or will she even get to choose?

What a charming read this was! Everythang is this book was quote-worthy! So I shouldn't break out too many quotes or I'll just go craaycraayy ^^ *nods sadly and monitors quote usage* XD
One of my fav scenes haass to be THE ZOMBIE SCENE. Hell yeaahh! XDD That was just hilariousness galore! You must read it peeps :DD *cackles*
“Roth snatched the arm out of the air, face incredulous. “Did you just throw this at my head? My head? Are you insane?”
It lumbered at me, groaning incoherent words.
“Roth!” I screeched, dodging the stinky arm. “This was a terrible idea!”
“You have to rub it in?”
I reached behind me, grabbing a box. I threw it at the zombie, hitting it on the side of the face. An ear fell off, landing on its shoulder. “Yes! Do something!”

“My whole life was built around one simple belief: demons deserved to be punished without question.”
What Zayne and Abbot have been doing with Layla is wrong. If they truly cared for her they wouldn't tell her what they do about her demon blood! Their teachings have made her conflicted. They've essentially made her hate herself for things that she can't control. *scowls*
But I thought that Layla was really strong considering her circumstances. But she keeps trying to go through the motions of her life even tho it's never going to change unless she takes control. And right now, her life sucks -___-
Like being treated like a child. Wanting someone she can't have. Being distrusted and even hated by her 'clan'. Practically being told to hate herself. Ohhh! And being treated like scum >:/ What's with this no-touching-a-hair-on-a-Wardens-scalp rule?? Even self-frigging-defence? :O
They obviously don't put this rule on each other! So basically they're saying, you have tainted blood blah blah you're lower than us blah blah we can bash you around if we want but you can't touch us, sucker. *frustrated growl*
The Wardens aren't any better than demons, and yet they act like they're gods! Gaaaahh.

“I can’t live like this.” *pats Layla's head*
What Layla needs to do is realize that her life isn't going to change unless she changes her whole life. She needs to take control of her own life.
Sure Layla has a room to live in, and any consumer products she wants, but those aren't really important. The wardens have really given her nothing but loneliness.
As a child she's been hated and been treated with wariness by practically all of the wardens. What kind of environment to grow up in is that?
And when she grows up? She can't be with a human or a warden. That just leaves demons. But wait, wardens hate demons. So basically not only has she been raised to hate demons, if she chooses to be with one, she'll become Zayne and Abbot's enemy and she'll be free to be killed.
Bottom line, wardens suck. XD

Roth *diies* Errrmeegosshhhh so haawttttt!!! *fans face* And vulnerable in his own way..........and funny, and charming, and sexyy hot demon ass with a side serving of baadness and player flirt ^^ *giggles* I really don't have anythang else to saayyy! At the moment, Team Roth rules *throws confetti* :DD
“Roth dipped his head again, and when he spoke, his breath was warm against my ear. “But I want to talk about Stony. Remember when I said he cared for you, Layla?”
My grip on his wrists tightened. “Yes. Like I said—”
“You’ve known him all your life. I get that.” His lips brushed the space below my ear, and I gasped. “But has it ever been...like this?”
Before I could even ask “like what,” Roth’s lips traveled across my cheekbone. Tiny, fiery shivers darted along my nerves. His lips brushed the corner of mine, and my pulse fluttered wildly. I was so far out of my league with him it wasn’t funny. “Is it like this, Layla?”
Like this? Ah, the touching...the almost kissing. “No.” I barely recognized my own voice. “I can’t...”
“Can’t what?” The very edges of his teeth came down on my lower lip. A little nip, like he’d mentioned before, and my entire body arched against his. “Can’t what, Layla?”
“I can’t be this close to him,” I admitted in a breathy voice.
Roth’s lips curved into a smile against mine. “What a shame.”
The lack of sincerity was epic.”

Ohhh, and I waaaant his kittens <3 So cuuteee ;P And Bambi is hilarious! *grins* Gooo Bambi!

Okay. I liked Zayne, but he annoyed me. Greatly.
Even tho Zayne grew up with Layla, he also grew up apart from her because he was in a completely different environment. A loving one because he 'fits in'. So he can't really understand what it's like for Layla. And he can be so inconsiderate sometimes. I mean seriously? Telling Danika about Layla's 'sickness'??? *scoffs* Yeaaahh good one Zayne. Zayne tells Danika about Layla's problems so she can help him 'look out for Layla' as if she's a child?? Niiice. Danika's going to think that Zayne and Layla are a package deal. So if she wants to be with Zayne, she just needs to be nice to Layla 'cause she's this little kid that Zayne took pity on and tucked under his stone wing. Aaand he's confiding in Danika as if they're a 'couple'. Meehh.

In Bitter Sweet Love, Zayne was so close and protective of Layla, but in this? Yess, he was protective, but I felt he was purposely trying to separate himself from her and do what his father wants....aka getting closer to Danika -__- Which meant abandoning Layla when she needed him, pushing her away and into the arms of Roth (so jeez, don't blame her for all of that hot demon mess......XD), and leaving her alone when he knows she had no one else.....until Roth came along, but he didn't know about Roth's existence at first ^^
I exactly can't blame him tho :/ I mean, he is in a bit of a tight situation, and we can't expect him to outright defy his father just to what? Be with a girl who he can't even kiss? XD Sounds a bit ludicrous doesn't it? I can't help feeling sorry for the Zayne and Layla ship, it's just so......what's the word.....t.r.a.g.i.c. xD Yuuup.
Mind you, from what I've read of the synopsis for Stone Cold Touch, I can't help assuming that Layla and Zayne may miraculously be able to get hot and bothered, and then down and dirty in the next book ^^ And if so, it'll be a whole new ball game for team Roth vs team Zayne XP *waggles fingers*
May the best ship wiiinn!!!! :DDD

4.5 stars ;)

The Oddball and the Bee, coming for a collaboration

Mmkay, so today, we have dearest Lady Bee joining me for a little game/discussion thingy. Bee is from Let Books Bee , and she just started bloggingg.
Bee: Yayyy!

Err, okayy then! Let's get started. In this game/discussion, we will be saying something we liked, and didn't like about a particular book.

First up, is City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

What we LIKED about it.
Bee: I don't know! :0
Cass: ... I kinda forgot the whole story?

*awkward silence*

Bee: I uh... liked Simon and the thing with the church... Isabelle was cool and was a badass *shrugs*
Cass: I liked the whole rune drawing idea thing..

Uhmm...Moving on.

What we DIDN'T like:

Bee: I didn't like Jace.. he was arrogant, and I stopped reading after it revealed that Jace and Clary were siblings. I also didn't like the romance. And the fact that Jace had these "superpowers" and he was this kind of god, and Clary drew these rune things all over her bodyy.
I don't like crappy boy bands. I don't like soda.. I don't like being stuck in traffic.. I hate Jace.
Cass: Da heck are you going on about?
Bee: ... I was quoting a book *cough* Nevermind
Cass: *shoots a funny look* Oookkaayy.
Bee: It's a coffee cup! I know it's like a coffee cup. Coffee.
Cass: ... *pats head* There there. XD
I didn't like that (^spoiler) either, and it just sickened me. Also didn't connect to the characters much. The story was a tad strange... Not my favourite series :/
Bee: I like soda! Wait she just said she didn't like soda. I don't get ittt
Cass: Shattup! You're ruining the post XD NEXT BOOK

Next up is Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas!

What we LIKED about it:

Bee: I loved the writing and I liked Celaena, obviously, because she's a badass, and she's awesome, and she kills people. >:D She's beautiful and vicious and friendly and funny and just everything. I liked how she was three dimensional like an actual person. I also liked the dog..
Cass: I adore this seriesss.. and everything she said *points above* XD and that this love triangle wasn't as stupid as most other YA triangles. The story was also awesome with loads of twists and stuff.

(:D That worked out much better than that disaster up there. *glares at CoB*)

What we DIDN'T like about it:

Bee: Um... It got really confusing at some parts, like she went dowwn..and then up..and then down..like in the secrets tunnels? And then the days kind of passed by really confusingly and you know. The time was a little confusing.
Cass: Yehh.. the story itself was also a bit confusing in Crown of Midnight? I didn't really follow completely of what they were talking about. I hope the reread will be betterr :D

Now time for Unearthly by Cynthia Hand.

What we LIKED about thiss:
Bee: I really liked the concept, like the whole nephilim thing, and that they had visions with what they had to do. The fallen angels were cool, and that if you actually did the visions, you wings became darker! I like..whatsitcalled? Twins? Tucker? Oh yeah Tucker Avery. What else.. I think that's pretty much it.
Cass: Yepp I liked the whole angel thing, and the paranormal concept idea. Tucker was awesome, and I liked that the girl had the paranormal voodoo stuff instead of the guy having it. :D Her friend..angel friend..Angela? she was cool too. If I remember correctly, the book was also hilarious. and I love humour in books ;) *cough* I also like the dress in the cover XD

What we DIDN'T like:

Bee: I didn't like that Clara didn't follow her vision and all, because she was supposed to save this guy but she saved another person, and his brother didn't get to save anyone because she saved who he had to save, and his wings stayed black. That was kind of selfish.
Cass: I didn't like that the characters were a little flat for me? I dunno.. Oh and that Clara and Tucker's romance was too fast, in my opinion. There's not much I didn't like, because I expected this meeeh angel thing, but it exceeded mah expectations. *nods*

Aand I think that's enough for today? *looks at Bee*
Bee: Yes yes! Goodbye! See you on my blog *wink wink* XD
Cass: Heheh yeehh.. Buhbye hope you had fun..? reading it :D

Couch Potato Time #4 – Pompeii

Ohh. Myyyy. Gawdddd. *dies* I loveddddd this movie <3

There was such attention to detail! :D I was watching the special features after the movie finished and apparently they went craaazy precise to make it look as authentic to Pompeii as possible :)
And the graphics were awesome and everythang! I was just left gobsmacked staring as the mountain erupted, the ground shifted and the oceans heaved. Yessssss *sighs happily*

Ohh and guess what?! Jon Snow has magically appeared in another show ^^ *coughs* Wait sorry, what I meant was, a buffed, hotter Jon Snow, appeared in another show *winks*
I'm not kidding, he was literally identical except for the change of physique! XD Same curly black hair and everythang ;) *giggles* ......aand as you can tell, I may have acquired a teensy crush :P
Belle's rational side: *clears throat* Moving onn.....

Emily Browning played the lead female role, and I was pleasantly surprised by her character! :D Honestly, I was kind of expecting her to be this naïve rich girl who would annoy me the whole movie and then fall in love with the slave/gladiator (played by Jon Sn–I mean, Kit Harington......gaaaahh I keep thinking of him as Jon! *facepalm*), but Cassia (Emily's character) was actually pretty tough! Not physically *rolls eyes* XP Physically she looks extremely delicate. But instead of physical qualities, she was humble, brave, smart, and strong-willed :) Me likey! *nods approvingly*

There were also a few other notable actors and actresses......one in particular being Cassia's mum! SHE WAS THE SAME ACTRESS WHO PLAYED TRINITY IN MATRIX!!!!!!! Eeeeeekkk *gaaasp*

I adored the character developments and relationships. It wasn't just a romance, there was bromance with Atticus (a fellow gladiator) and Milo (Kit's character), and and sisterhood with Cassia and Ariadne (niice names ;D), who, although she was technically Cassia's 'slave', they grew up together and mutually treated each other as sisters *wipes away tears and holds hand to heart* XP

Make no mistake tho, this is POMPEII. No one gets out alive *cries* Not even ze main characters. I knoowww, I burst your bubbles *pats head* But honestly, by the end even tho the story could be labeled tragic and star-crossed love, I felt at peace, and the ending was perfect in my opinion (the make-out session was a bit longer than I expected tho.....noottt that I'm complaining exactly ^^)

And before we watched Pompeii, my brother and I actually made a bet on if the main characters would die or survive....
You see, he was convinced that they'd die, simply because it was Pompeii, but I was hanging on to the hope that they'd let them live somehow.....but as it goes, you know nothing, MissBloodsucker ^^ (and to you GoT fans......yesss I did just say that XD)
And of course they didn't survive, and of course my bro had to make us bet 20 cents >.< *sniffs* Goodbyee my preciousss XD

So what can I say? I seriously loved this moviee! Can I pleaaasee see more movies with this new and improved Jon Snow? Pretty pleasee? Cherries on top? XDD

Thrilling. Enthralling. Haunting.
Thrilling because of all the fight scenes (ohh how I love old Roman time history stories *beams*). And the struggles of power. The politics.
Enthralling from the vengeance and retribution that was brought down upon a certain Senator......*smirks* I am always up for a good vengeance plot....they never fail to bring about a chilling smile on my face #AelinAshryverGalathynius
And it was Haunting. The cinematography. The deaths. Pompeii.

4.5 stars!

Another *cough*late*cough* Addition to the Misses Blog!

Hey y'all! Tia here ^^ so considering that I have recently joined the FM and know what it's like being the new kid *winks* I think I'll start the Q&A for our new addition: Ryann aka LittleMissPessimist! *clears throat and begins questioning*

Tia: Why did you get into blogging?
Ryann: I never did write reviews for books unless I felt extreme emotion towards them, but I realised that when I do write detailed reviews I feel all happy for getting my opinion out there, and since you guys had a blog that I was totally invited to and I had lots of time I wanted in XD I'm kinda bored...
Cass: *overhears from sideline* You joined because you were bored?! *cries* But great to have ya here, bud ;)

Tia: What weapon would you choose in a zombie apocalypse?
Ryann: NORMAN :D Norman is my beautiful compound bow that has served as my sidekick since... Christmas! Yeah! I'm not that good though and I can't find half of my arrows :P

Tia: What are your favorite genres?
Ryann: Um... YA? XD The books I read these days are either romance, contemporary, or supernatural... No judgy-judgy, kk?

Tia: What do you do in your spare time?
Ryann: In my spare time I like to watch anime, read (no kidding), ummm... Play the Attack on Titan Tribute Game, courtesy of Feng Lee, write... Mer. I sound so lonely XD OH! I like shooting :D

Tia: What animes are your favorites?
Ryann: SUCH a beautiful question ~ What to pick, what to pick... Fairy Tail, Soul Eater, Angel Beats, Naruto, Clannad, Durarara, Blue Exorcist, Hetalia.. Ummm... I love anime <3 Ouran High School Host Club, Sword Art Online (I don't find it entirely overrated, unlike SOME people... But to be fair, I hadn't heard about it until I watched it. I thought it was some anime about art XD), Attack on Titan (epic plot, not so epic MC)... That might be about it for some of my favourites :/ Diabolik Lovers, Uno X Boku SS, Kamisama Hajumemashita... I think that's it, for real this time XD
Tia: That sure is a lot of animes *wide eyes*

Tia: What was your first YA book?
Ryann: The City of Bones ;) So cliche. Ah well, it was beautiful when I read it...Four years ago XP I still love the series, just not the ending so much. I can't wait for Lady Midnight though <3

Tia: Milk, Dark, or White chocolate? This is very important xD
Ryann: Milk chocolate :D I like dark chocolate of course, but it leaves this bitter aftertaste on my tongue that feels unpleasant after a couple of pieces. I could eat milk chocolate for hours~ Oh... I don't remember ever trying white chocolate by itself 0_o Is it good? XD
Tia: I think that it tastes okay...not better than dark or milk though xD
Cass: I don't like white chocolateee..

Tia: What do you look forward to as you start your first year of high school?
Ryann: Um. Um. Well, it's school... I don't really want to meet a whole bunch of new people, that's just more people to watch out for :P However *off topic*, I saw a very attractive male specimen today when I was walking around looking for my Geo class... His dad and my dad gave each other what one-armed bro hug thing, when they grab hands, pull each other in, and then give the other guy a slap on the back... His son and I made eye contact and we kinda shrugged and I held my hand out and said my name was Ryann, but he didn't answer, just shook my hand... So we are presented with three options. One, I am unattractive. Two, he's gay. Three, he's shy :P I HAVE BEEN WONDERING ABOUT HIS NAME SINCE I GOT HOME LIKE WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?! Oh, I did hear him say that he has the same Geo teacher as me... Is it bad that I hoped we were in the same class? XD But anyways, I guess I just want to pass all my classes while managing to have some fun or my life is going to be miserable. I'm in all honors and one AP class, and I really want to do well so I don't have to repeat anything. It's a miracle that I passed Algebra, so I'm hoping Rachel and Tia will help me again if I need it, and maybe Belle ^.^ So there's your answer, academic success XD
Tia: Academic success is the best thing to look forward to XD But learning that guy's name has it's perks *winks*
Belle: Yeshhh yeshhh 'course I'll help :P
Cass: XD Nice Rhy. and I like how I'm the only person you wouldn't come for maths help mwahaha... which is kind of sad o.O

Tia: *looks around for the others* Oi! Where y'all be at? I can't do this questioning all on my own!
Cass: I like watching you struggle for questions..heheh juss kiddinnn. You're the one who wanted to start it off xD
Tia: I didn't mean for you guys to let me do it all! *shakes head in exasperation*
Cass: Mmkay hold yer hippogriffs, woman. *thinks*
Belle: I've been doing maaath *whines* You guys seem like you have everything under control.....sooo I'll....just......bee......goinggg....? *flashes grin and attempts to sneak off*
Cass: xD Belle, come back here and brainstorm. *shuffles papers* I've thought of a few :D

Cass: What is your favourite name for a girl and a guy?
Ryann: For a girl? Umm, probably something unusual. I like the name "Tala" a lot, but I don't think it's something I would name a child. For a boy? I'm sorn between Noah and Jason. Don't ask me why, please don't XD
Tia: *pipes up* What are you torn between Noah and Jason, Ryann? *mischievous smile*
Ryann: XD I love Noah, I would literally name my kid Noah, but Jason? I just like the way it sounds to me okay XD IT DOESN'T NEED TO MAKE SENSE TO YOUUUU
Tia: *cackles and lets Cass continue*

Cass: What are your top five countries?
Ryann: Um. I had to think about countries for a moment XD I got them confused with continents. *Ponders Hetalia*
1. Japan
2. Russia
3. Germany
4. South Italy (I had Romano there for a while before I remembered WHAT Romano was XD THEY USED TO BE SEPERATE OKAY?!)
5. Prussia ^.^
You didn't say that they still had to exist... XD
Cass: Get confused with continents *facepalm*

Cass: What do you wish to do the most, no matter how ridiculous it is?
Ryann: I want to fly. I'm serious, I want to sprout some wings and fly. I don't know why really. Maybe because if I could, I would always be free.
Tia: I would fly too ^^ good choice Rhy!

Cass: How tall are you?
Tia: Cass...you need to get over your hangups about being short XD
Cass: Shuddupp -_-' Says the person only 2-3 inches taller *sticks tongue out*
Ryann: I am approximately 5'5 ^.^ Ey, I'm in third on the height scale around here!
Cass: XD Nooooo... why did I think you were 5"3? o.O You too tall, man
Belle: *pops in and nods along with Cass* Tis not fair! :O

Cass: What's your theme song?
Ryann: My theme song? Well... It's either "Numb" by Linkin Park, "Unwell" by Matchbox 20, or "My Demons" by Starset. I'm leaning towards "My Demons" today :P

Cass: What instrument do you want to learn the most?
Ryann: I like listening to music, but I'm not a fan of playing. Something to fit my personality XD You tell me.
Tia: I think you would be good playing the guitar...what do you think Cass?
Cass: Guitar? Ooo... how bout the electric guitar? That's a pretty awesome instrument xD
Belle: Bahaha Cass ;) Yeah probs guitar ^^ I don't know many instruments and that's the best bet XD

*looks up at questions* Well I think that's about all we have for you tonight! If any of you want to ask Ryann any other questions feel free! She doesn't bite...often XD

Onyx ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout

Source of Pic: GoodReads
Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Average Rating on GoodReads:
Pages: 366

Synopsis:

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…
The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

The second Lux novel...Just as good as the first :D  I absolutely love Onyx. This one doesn't focus as much on the relationship, although that is still very present, between Katy and Daemon, but focuses a lot on Katy and her growing powers.

Yep, you heard me right. Katy has powers. Apparently, when Daemon healed her that night in the clearing, he altered her DNA somehow to where she became a hybrid of Luxen and human. Obviously neither Katy or Daemon tell anyone else about this because of the fact that it's forbidden for a Luxen to heal a human.

Then Blake come strolling into town...God I hate him. He deserves all the wrong names that Daemon calls him throughout the book and so much more. If I were Daemon and Katy, I wouldn't have let him go at the end of the book. I know that too many people had died that night (some that broke me hear :( ) but come on! Look how much trouble he caused you! And how much trouble he's gonna cause you later one!! Ugh..Just...UGH! Flake you really get on mah nerves.

*takes deep breath* Okay..Now that that is done xD I'd also like to point out that Will, the doctor that Katy's mom is dating, is a complete ass and needs to be taken care of pronto. I can't believe he was using her mom to get close to Katy just because he wanted to be healed forever like she had been. I get not wanting his cancer to come back, but that was low, and I want him dead.

...It seems like I'm a violet person due to these rants about killing people...but I swear I'm really not XD

Now that ending...O.O I just have to say that was really unexpected. I mean for him to come back without her and everything...I never did understand why DB came back without looking for her...And just to tell you guys, I'm not gonna say who I'm talking about *evil laughter* Y'all will just have to read the book :D

Sorry this review was so short /: I tried so many times to write this review and it just didn't work out so well. That don't mean I didn't love the book though xD It's still one of my favorites

My Ex From Hell by Tellulah Darling

My Ex From Hell (The Blooming Goddess Trilogy, #1)My Ex From Hell
by
Tellulah Darling

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★

Average Rating on Goodreads: 3.87

Page Count: 272

Synopsis:
Prior to the Halloween dance, Sophie figures her worst problems involve adolescent theatrics, bi**hy teen yoga girls, and being on probation at her boarding SCHOOL for mouthy behaviour. Then she meets bad boy Kai and gets the kiss that rocks her world.

Literally.

This breath stealing lip lock reawakens Sophie’s true identity: Persephone, Goddess of Spring. She’s key to saving humanity in the war between the Underworld and Olympus, target numero uno of Hades and Zeus, and totally screwed.

Plus there’s also the little issue that Sophie’s last memory as Persephone was just before someone tried to murder her.

Big picture: master her powers, get her memories back, defeat Persephone’s would be assassin, and save the world. Also, sneak into the Underworld to retrieve stolen property, battle the minions of Hades and Zeus, outwit psycho nymphs, slay a dragon, rescue a classmate, keep from getting her butt expelled from the one place designed to keep her safe …

… and stop kissing Kai, Prince of the Underworld.

My Ex From Hell is a YA romantic comedy, Greek mythology smackdown. Love meets comedy with a whole lot of sass in book one of this teen fantasy romance series. Compared to Kai and Sophie, Romeo and Juliet had it easy.

I liked it! It was a quick and hilarious read. Although it had a few (okay maybe a bit more than a few) plot holes and unnecessary information, it had me laughing a lot. I'm actually surprised that it's not more popular. Because even if it DID have some lacking conveyance, it was a good book! *frowns at rating number* Sophie (our main) was a witty character with a wicked sense of humour. But I do have to admit that the characters were a bit two dimensional.

Sophie: the tough sarcastic girl who gets bullied by Bethany. Turns out to be Persephone. A bit of a strange character to be a main...
Kai: The guy from hell. Persephone's love. Jerk. Not very swoony.
Hannah: Sophie's best friend. Science whiz. Beautiful.
Theo: Prometheus. Sophie's protector..ish.. thing.
Cassie: Cassandra the prophet. Kooky.
Bethany: The mean bully.

And that's literally all they were during the book. No one stepped out of their character comfort zone and surprised meee! *scratches head*

The romance was meh. Stop being hot and cold, Kai!! *slaps* You can't keep kissing her and then go kiss someone else and then come back because Persephone is his past/current/I dont know love or whatever *throws up hands* It just Didn't. Make. Any. Sense.

"I destroyed them. You might want to remember that as you continue to piss me off."
   "It's impossible. You're a human," he retorted.
"And a goddess. Get with the program."

Mmkay, I like Darling's writing. (Love the name :P) This is the first book i've read which is by her. If I'm correct, she only wrote one other book before writing this series..so I can't really say meh.. but the problem is, is that she focuses on the dialogue so much, the plotline and character development falls a bit flat. Because I loved this plot, honestly. I'm not really into too much Greek Mythology, but mix it with some funny contemp background and you totally got my attention XD So it was unique. Her own bio (on GR) says:
Writes about: Where love meets comedy. Awkwardness ensues.
Heheh I love awkwardnessss *grins* So this was my type of book. I did stay up late reading it.(although not late as I wanted because my dad kept shuffling around the house and startling me into turning the lamp off and jumping into bed.. which I got tired of doing so just went to sleep -.- Which was probably a good thing anyways because I was trying hard not to laugh to loud.), but it was really mostly the dialogue which kept me reading. Aand i'm probably going in circles, so moooving on.

The ending was nice! A cliffhangerrr....which forces me to read the second book. I hope in the sequel, there will be more development, and Kai will have an inner nice being or something (Thin ice, because he IS Hades' son after all o.O), and the book would be longer and still be full of hilariousness ;)

Bottom Line:
A Mythology/Contemporary book with a holey plot, paper people, but amazing writing and I-can't-breathe laughter. Problem with book: It was too short, and Darling couldn't make the characters go so deep within 272 pages, in my opinion. But you should read it anyways even for the laughs. Mwahahah. Or not? *waggles eyebrows* You can decidee.

Besides... can you refuse to get to know a girl who sings while trying to lure some evil baddie creatures towards her with her powers?!

I sang a catchy tune about my light ribbons.
"Move them to the left, then I move them to the right. I'm an ass-kicking superfreak, I'll do it all night."

Let me be a lesson to you, kids. There is a reason you shouldn't get all cocky. Because if you do, the universe will come along and kick your ass hard.
